Please write to and call your representatives, as the first in a series of initiatives from an emerging coalition campaign formed to challenge the accelerating ethnic cleansing of Jerusalem, or al-Quds (The Holy City). Not only are our Palestinian sibllings in Jerusalem suffering from apartheid and the ongoing threat forced of displacement, but the indigenous beauty, diversity, culture, and living history of the holy city are at serious risk of being forever lost in the face of settler-colonial violence and erasure. It is the indigenous diversity, culture and history that makes the city holy, a holiness profaned by the evils of ethnic clearnsing, racial supremacy, and apartheid.

On the holy mountain stands the city founded by the Lord. He loves the city of Jerusalem more than any other dwelling of Jacob. O city of God, what glorious things are said of you!

I will count Egypt and Babylon among those who know me— also Philistia and Tyre, and even distant Ethiopia.They have all become citizens of Jerusalem! Regarding Jerusalem it will be said, “Everyone enjoys the rights of citizenship there.”

And the Most High will personally bless this city. When the Lord registers the nations, he will say, “They have all become citizens of Jerusalem.” The people will play flutes and sing, “The source of my life springs from Jerusalem!”

I, as a person of faith and deep moral conviction, ask that you monitor this situation closely and oppose any effort to further displace Palestinians in Jerusalem or annex the West Bank.

Our Palestinian friends and families in Jerusalem and the West Bank are the victims of profound, legal discrimination, of settler violence and settlement expansion, and ongoing threats of forced displacement. Moreover, as Israel enacts policies of ethnic exclusion and demographic homogenization, the indigenous beauty, diversity, culture, and living history of the holy city are at serious risk of being lost forever. For it is precisely its indigenous diversity, culture and history that makes the city holy, a holiness profaned by the evils of forced displacement, racial supremacy, and cultural erasure.

I implore you to do all in your power to save Jerusalem and preserve the holiness of the holy city.
