We Demand Justice

We Demand Justice

Today, on November 12th, the US House of Representatives will vote on H.R. 9495 - a bill that gives the Executive Branch, and specifically the Treasury Secretary, the power to remove the tax-exempt status and effectively shut down any organization they deem "terrorist supporting," without providing reason or evidence.

Make no mistake - in a political climate where being anti-genocide, anti-apartheid, and pro-peace is constantly being baselessly conflated with being pro-terror, pro-hate, and pro-war, this bill is targeting 501(c)(3) Palestine advocacy nonprofit organizations like ours.

Granting the Executive Branch the power to shut down any tax-exempt organization without proof is not a sign of a healthy democracy and must be rejected.

Tell your representatives to reject H.R. 9495 before it is too late.

  • I am in shock over the wanton destruction and horrifying loss of innocent life in Gaza. As your constituent, I call on you to demand immediate ceasefire in Gaza and increased humanitarian assistance. Add your name and your voice to the growing chorus of those standing up for innocent life. History is watching you. It is my belief that God is too. Do the right thing and demand an end to the killing.
  • The laws of armed conflict are clear. Neither civilians nor civilian institutions can be targeted. This applies to both Israelis and Palestinians, as well as to the US. So, I condemn the massacres in Gaza, which have resulted in the death of thousands of innocent lives, over 40% of whom are children. I demand an immediate ceasefire, so that the wounded can be evacuated and medical supplies as well as humanitarian assistance can be provided. The urgency of the humanitarian catastrophe cannot wait. An immediate ceasefire and the provision of supplies is essential.
  • Violence begets violence. It will bring neither security to Israelis nor justice to the Palesgtinians. We must reject the tired refrain that “our enemies only understand the language of force.” For, as we all know, it is only light that can drive out darkness. Again, I call on you to demand immediate ceasefire in Gaza and immediate humanitarian assistance.
